The Mosquito Effect - Local alt-rock four-piece are the worthy winners of the Road to Kelvedon Final. They formed in 2008 and came together to make music simply because of the love that comes with making and listening to it. “We try to make music that feels good to us and hopefully to those who come see us” says drummer George.
The band members are:
Andy Holm - Guitar, Vocals
Nick Griffin - Guitar, Backing Vocals
George Hayes - Drums
Graeme Chatten - Bass
Since their first gig in December 2008 The Mosquito Effect have played all over Essex and London, most notably Camden's Dublin Castle, The Square, Harlow, and 229 Great Portland Street. Last year saw them Headline Club NME at the Barhouse Chelmsford and more recently perform at the O2 Academy Islington.
The Mosquito Effect are always writing new material, tweaking old stuff and rearranging sets to try and make each show fresh and unique. Don't just take our word for it:
"Infectious progressive rock" - The Bitter End
"Bagging a mind boggling blues take on prog leaning rock… Led Zep via Muse would be a good place to start" - The Dublin Castle
Who do they sound like? With common comparisons to Led Zeppelin and Muse, arguably two of the greatest rock acts of their era, that should tell you everything. But the band are keen to be a great act in their own right, and they are well on their way to doing so. “We never started out with a view to be ‘this sort of band’ or to sound like ‘that sort of band’. We all agree on a good riff, solos and interesting sounds,” says George.

Stand out track ‘Questions from the Stars’ is definitely set to be a crowd pleaser, and having been described by the press as ‘infectious’, the only way to stop the itch is to see them. They impressed the judges, let them electrify you.
