Adrian Nation to replace Travellor in Festival line-up
Unfortunately, Travellor have had to drop out of this year's Festival, but we have managed to secure the services of the excellent Adrian Nation and a big thank you goes out to Adrian for stepping in at the last minute.
Drummer Hates Jazz are the winners of this year's Battle of the Bands and go on as the opening act at the Music Festival on 12 July.
A crowd of nearly 200 squeezed into Kelvedon Institute to cheer on the five competing bands in what proved to be the highest standard of competition we have experienced to date. The other bands were Scorpio Toy from Tiptree and Colchester, Collision Theory from Kelvedon and Feering, and Colchester bands, Your Revolution and Her Morning Eyes. Each one of these bands would have been worthy winners.
Arthur Smith, who helped organise the contest, said: "This year was the highest level of music I've heard for Battle of the Bands. There was a really good atmosphere and the place was packed.” Judges included Charles Hedger, guitarist from Cradle of Filth, Alison Taffs, from the band Relay based in Witham, as well as Chris and Micky from Essex Rocks.
The band later commented, "There was tough competition. I never thought in a million years we would be doing this."
Festival 2007 was held on Saturday, 14 July at the Kelvedon Recreation Ground from 12.00pm – 7.30pm and was a huge success! Roll on next year! A huge thanks goes to Jillian Forsyth, Troy Parr and Ann Fisher for supplying this years batch of photos - great work! You can view the gallery here.
As the festival has grown year by year, so have the costs, overheads and health and safety requirements. It is getting harder and harder to keep on top of these so to keep this festival free we need your support!

millwalldave 06/01/2010 at 21:47 Into the New Year so it must be time for headliner speculation: how about Limehouse Lizzy?
