KELVEDON FREE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012 IS CANCELLED
Festival NewsIt is with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the Kelvedon Free Music Festival this year. Essex Police informed us only in late April that they had concerns around the safety of the event based on the plans submitted to them as part of our licensing application; these plans were entirely consistent with those successfully submitted in prior years. Representatives from the organising committee met with the Police, the Transport Police, the Fire Brigade and the District Council on Wednesday 9th May to discuss how the concerns raised might be addressed. However, with only 2 months to go, we have neither the time nor, more importantly, resources to address all the points they now expect us to under their revised approach to events such as this.

We fully endorse the desire to ensure the Festival is as safe as it can possibly be and we have always worked towards that; unfortunately, this year, we are unable to meet the external requirements for that and we have come to the decision we have with a heavy heart. Please accept our apologies if you are an artist, stallholder or other participant in the Festival and you are hearing this for the first time, your usual contact will be in touch with you imminently to discuss next steps.

It is too early to say what will be possible for next year, we will consider that in the coming months although it is quite clear that we will not be able to proceed on the same basis we have previously. Thank you to all who have supported us over the past 13 years and made the Kelvedon Free Music Festival one of the most successful of its kind.

What an amazing crowd - you guys rock - we hope you all had a ...great time. Thanks for everyone involved in the clean up last night and this morning; looks like a recreation ground again. Kelvfest is a family friendly event for our village to be proud of, and is run by volunteers, supported by local sponsors – a big thank you to each & every one of you for making the festival possible.

Special mention to Event Sound & Light for the superb sound quality. To Tony & Lloyd for MC-ing. To the backstage crew and stewards - you are the unsung heroes. To Sally & her team in the bar, incredible job, and to all of you who bought your drinks from the bar... you are the guys who have ensured we have the money to go ahead next year. And thanks to everyone we've forgotten to mention; luv ya!

WHAT A GREAT DAY... pics to follow soon
To everyone going to Kelvedon Festival.
We hope you all have a wonderful time at the 13th Kelvedon Free Music Festival. All the bands are raring to go, and there are lots of other attractions and activities to keep you all entertained throughout the day. Kelvfest is a family friendly event for our village to be proud of, and is run by volunteers, supported by local sponsors – a big thank you to them all for making the festival possible.

Please do your bit to support our festival. Buy your drinks at our beer tent, put money in the donation buckets and have a look at our merchandising in the information tent. Without your support each year, it would not be possible for us to continue to stage a free festival.

Most of all let’s make this a top day for everyone. Respect each other, keep the event family friendly, and drink responsibly.

Get up and dance, and HAVE A GREAT DAY.
Saved by the Bears!
Festival NewsWith little over a month to the festival, one of our main stage bands split up so had to pull out. After many frantic phone calls, and within 24 hours of the cancellation, we were able to announce that the slot has been filled by WHO'S DRIVING? BEAR'S DRIVING! Not only a cool local addition to the line up, but also an incredible high quality much revered Scuzz-tastic band! Thanks AJ, thanks lads! Link

Events NewsCongratulations to Broken Heads, winners of the 2011 Kelvedon Festival Battle of the Bands competition.

On Friday 4th March five local bands competed for the honour of opening this year's festival. As before, the standard was amazingly high, but Colchester based post punk/indie four piece Broken Heads emerged as popular winners, despite a broken bass drum! They will play a half hour slot on the main stage on Saturday 9th July.

Thank you to the other four competing bands for making the competition so enjoyable:
Ninety-Three ('93)
Infuriate
Forgetting the Fallen
Keep ‘em Keen
