Adrian Nation to replace Travellor in Festival line-up
Festival NewsUnfortunately, Travellor have had to drop out of this year's Festival, but we have managed to secure the services of the excellent Adrian Nation and a big thank you goes out to Adrian for stepping in at the last minute.
Battle of the Bands 2008 - Winners
Drummer Hates Jazz are the winners of this year's Battle of the Bands and go on as the opening act at the Music Festival on 12 July.

A crowd of nearly 200 squeezed into Kelvedon Institute to cheer on the five competing bands in what proved to be the highest standard of competition we have experienced to date. The other bands were Scorpio Toy from Tiptree and Colchester, Collision Theory from Kelvedon and Feering, and Colchester bands, Your Revolution and Her Morning Eyes. Each one of these bands would have been worthy winners.

Arthur Smith, who helped organise the contest, said: "This year was the highest level of music I've heard for Battle of the Bands. There was a really good atmosphere and the place was packed.” Judges included Charles Hedger, guitarist from Cradle of Filth, Alison Taffs, from the band Relay based in Witham, as well as Chris and Micky from Essex Rocks.

The band later commented, "There was tough competition. I never thought in a million years we would be doing this."

What a fantastic day!
Festival NewsWell, that's it for another year! The ninth annual Kelvedon Free Music Festival was an absolutely fantastic success - with quite probably the biggest crowd to date. Thanks to everyone who showed up! The weather was glorious, the music was excellent and the traffic in Kelvedon High Street was utter chaos - we even got a mention on BBC Radio 1 travel news! Check back soon for a full report...
John Otway interviewed on BBC Essex
General NewsThe Kelvedon Free Music Festival is once again the subject of a BBC Essex feature - where this year's headline act, John Otway is interviewed - highlighting his confidence in the British weather for the big day. Great to see the festival getting so much coverage - let's hope it helps draw the biggest crowd yet. Make sure you're there!
Replica to play pre-festival gig...
Events NewsIn addition to our after festival party with the Rockin' Armadillos at the Kelvedon Labour Club, we now have a pre-festy bash as well! Simon at The Angel, St Mary's Square, Kelvedon has booked the excellent covers band Replica to play on the evening of Friday 13th July. Surely the best way to warm up for this years' festival?!
Boudica Rio Samba - a late addition...
Festival NewsWe're delighted to announce Boudica Rio Samba as a late addition to this year's lineup. Boudica is Colchester's very own community Samba Bloco, founded in June 2005. They follow the traditions of authentic Rio culture and embrace Samba as a multi faceted art form, paying homage to their direct Brazilian roots. Boudica will be joining us for two 15 minute slots in front of the main stage at 2.20pm and 3.15pm.
Spiral Circuit to replace Cleavage...
Festival NewsIn a change to the Shutupfool Stage lineup, Cleavage will sadly no longer be playing at this year's Festival. Fortunately, it's been easy to fill their slot with numerous bands waiting in the wings for such an opening. The lucky ones this time round are Spiral Circuit, who now fill the 15:30 slot.
