Battle of the Bands 2010 - Winners

Huge congratulations to Raise These Sails, winners of the annual Kelvedon Free Music Festival Battle of the Bands held on Friday 5th March at Kelvedon Institute. They saw off stiff competition from four other local school-age bands to win the coveted opening slot at this year’s festival, taking place on Saturday 10th July. Members of the six piece ‘post hardcore rock’ band attend either Honywood School or Colchester Institute.

Raise These Sails will be joined at the 2010 festival by runners up The Kipling Conspiracy, who attend Philip Morant College. The standard was so high this year that judges decided to offer the runners up a slot on the Essex Rocks stage. Judge Arthur Smith said, “This was the closest competition we have ever had. Any one of the five bands would have been worthy winners.” Other bands taking part were Caged, Buried by Dawn and One Kill Away From a Pavelow.
